Workshop: Beyond the Light: Luminous Narratives
The workshop uses projection as an artistic medium to make personal and social issues visible.
Light is understood as a poetic and political tool, shaping stories, marking identities, and opening up hidden perspectives. Based on their own observations, memories, or questions, participants develop short concepts and decide which media they want to use: animation, video, still image, drawing, collage, stop-motion, or pure lighting. Subsequently, the projection plane is determined, a wall, an object, an architectural edge, or an unexpected surface in the room. During the joint working phase, short sequences, loopable fragments, or dense still compositions are created. The results are shown in a location-specific manner in the mobile experience space or flow as material into the digital environment that will be visible on uzwei during the festival, as moving textures, projected levels, or temporary light images in the urban space.
From grade 7 and above.
The workshop takes place on the second floor of the Dortmunder U (uzwei).
The Nexus Collective is an interdisciplinary group of artists, art educators, visual arts, art history, digital art, design, and performance. They develop participatory art projects that deal with the individual perception of this world. Open, creative, and cooperative, they work with various experts and interest groups to develop projects. Through the use of technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and other digital tools, new design and visualization possibilities of social issues arise, with immersive, virtual works playing a central role.
