Thorsten S. Wiedemann

Thorsten S. Wiedemann is the founder and artistic director of A MAZE. Under this international label, he produces and curates festivals, exhibitions, artist-in-residence programs, and workshops at the intersection of games, art, and playful media. The annual festival “A MAZE. / Berlin” showcases the arthouse games movement and promotes the experimental use of playful media. He generates new, controversial formats (e.g., A MAZE. Pop-ups, A MAZE. Train Jams, A MAZE. / SPACE) and provides space for experimentation, collaboration, and exchange. In 2012, he established the A MAZE. Awards, which are presented in seven categories to unique games and playful media works. His focus is on interdisciplinary discourse and on bridging the gaps between games, art, and technology. During the Disconnected Performance in 2016, he spent 48 hours in VR.
